WP Housing is overseeing a land-led development of affordable housing at Polebarn Road, Trowbridge, for Selwood Housing. The scheme will provide 18 new homes for local people including 13 for affordable rent and five for shared ownership. The homes are expected to be completed by the autumn of 2023.
WP Housing’s responsibilities include prequalifying contractors and managing a single-stage competitive tender. We have also advised on pre-construction activity including design to maximise the use of space and sequencing of work to reduce the building programme.
The restricted site is located within a conservation area and adjacent to listed buildings, this has led to the use of ashlar stone and natural slate tiles, as well as bespoke curved timber doors and sash windows. As a result, the project is a truly unique architectural design, that has demanded diligent value management to keep the contract on schedule.
The site his being transformed from a neglected and contaminated area into a thriving community asset providing much-needed affordable housing for Trowbridge.
