The new rural affordable housing scheme in the village Clehonger, close to Hereford, comprises 58 new affordable rent homes, including one, two, three and four-bedroom houses, along with 32 two- and three-bedroom houses for sale as shared ownership.
Our research identified high demand from local people for affordable housing, in an area where traditional house prices were more than 10 times annual income. Affordable housing land was in short supply and WP Housing worked with the development team to identify a suitable site under rural exemption and secure planning permission for 90 new homes.
A sympathetic design featured plenty of green space for the whole community to enjoy, attractive open spaces, and a rejuvenated orchard designed to breathe new life into the local area. The houses are built to the latest energy-efficient standards with homes reaching a class B energy rating.
Working in partnership with the chosen construction partner to provide a range of houses intends to help local individuals and families get on the property ladder to realise their dream of owning their own home. Adopting traditional house-building techniques
